BIOGRAPHY OF ARTISTES ON KROBOLAND – ARMSTICK
Krobos are known to have various kinds of music genres from ancient songs to current western songs. Some of these songs have been categories into various genres like “Klama, Obunu, Kpatsa, Wɔdo” (dance of the god’s song) among many others. Krobos are also known for sports music too like “jama”.
Most of these songs are sang during occasions like festivals, weddings, traditional ceremonies, funerals, naming ceremonies and during the popular puberty rite “Dipo”. All these songs are known as traditional songs or ancient songs.
Coming up in the early 90s through the year 2000 till now, the trend in Ghana has changed which has affected these traditional songs because most of them are classified outmoded and ungodly because of the type of instruments and lyrics used.
Musicians or artiste on the land has managed their way through to bring us new genres such as hip life, high life, gospel, Christian music, among others.
Some of these artiste on kroboland has also embraced these dynamics in music.
Today we would like to bring to your attention an Artiste who goes by the name Yakubu Michael but hyped Armstick as his stage name. Below is the biography of Armstick.
Who is ARMSTICK?
Armstick is an artiste who grew up with his parent, Mr. Mohammed Yakubu and Mrs. Mary Yakubu somewhere in Ghana, Somanya in the Eastern Region to be precise. He is about 27years old as at the year 2021.
He is an energetic young man, who is dark in complexion, about six feet tall, humble and the easy going type. This guy is ready to learn and overcome everything that challenges him.
Education Background of Armstick
Most of the time, artistes, producers, sound engineers are known for being stubborn and school dropouts but information about Armstick will surprise you. He is learned person and that’s why we have decided to bring to your notice his educational background. He attended his basic school at New Somanya Methodist JHS where he sat for his Basic Education Certificate Examination in the year 2010 at the school.
He further continues education at Apeguso Senior High School which he had passes in all area of studies. “Combining school activities with music wasn’t easy but I was determined and persevered to pass my exams”. Armstick started music in basic school, and was into everything music that is, rapping, singing, etc and also took to heart almost all the genres including; Afrobeat, Highlife, Dancehall and many others until he located his main genre of focus.
Social Life of Armstick
People are social kinds which are motivated by the people they find around them. Since most of the time it’s not okay to a loner, Armstick lives a social life that unions with others such as family, friends, members of the community and fans. This can be measured with the amount time he spent and interact with them. He has also attention for fans online or social media.
However, there’s no supernumerary for face to face communication, Armstick uses his skills on stage performance to exhibit that he is sociable to maintain his relationship with friends, the community and fans all over the world.
Belief System and Philosophy of Armstick
A belief system is a philosophy or set of doctrines that guides a person to interpret activities of everyday actuality. This could be party-political, religious bodies and denominations, irreligious among many others. However, Armstick wish not to disclose his religious status.
Why Music, What Inspired Armstick?
Inspiration is a sense of motivation (a desire to write) coupled with a distinctive talent to compose music purely from your thoughts. In quest of knowing more about Armstick, we discovered in one disclose with him, sharing his source from which he gets his inspiration. “I drive my inspiration from my day to day activities, the hustles of the youth and mostly from myself (mood)”, said Michael Yakubu.
