As Hearts break eleven year “trophyless jinx”
Like England, the inventors of World Football, the oldest Club in Ghana, known as Accra Hearts of Oak, formed on the eleventh microsecond, eleventh second, eleventh minute, eleventh hour, eleventh day, eleventh week, eleventh month and the eleventh year of the nineteenth Century, today the 11th day of July 2021, Hearts has made a dramatic history, by officially annexing the trophy which has eluded the Club for eleven good years with a match to go.
Amassing 61points in the Ghanaian League which happens to be the most competitive season ever, Daniel Afriyie Bannie, spiting the number 18 Jersey shot the Phobians in the lead on the stroke of halftime, stepping into the shoes of Ishmael Addo who wore the same Jersey number to clinch an enviable three times goal King and Mahatma Otoo who also grabbed the goal king award with the same Jersey number 18.
For eleven consecutive years, Hearts languished in the soccer wilderness without a trophy, affirming a one time former President (Kuffour) era, who happens to have managed the bitterest rival of the Club (Kotoko) said he will make sure Hearts doesn’t win the league, questioning why a single Club will win the league Six consecutive times in a roll.
Football in Ghana has finally arrived in the Nation’s Capital, after eleven years of trophy drought.
England, for 55years, could not beat Germany. In this year’s European Tournament, they broke the jinx by beating them at 2:0 at the semifinal stage and are leading at 1:0 at the finals of the tournament.
